At India’s Hidden Histories, our mission is to educate, engage, and empower children by bringing Indian law, history, and culture to life in an accessible and age-appropriate way. We strive to raise awareness about fundamental rights, duties, and social justice while encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and informed discussion. Through meaningful learning experiences, we aim to help young minds understand the importance of equality, democracy, and civic responsibility.
Our vision is to build a generation of informed and socially conscious young citizens who are deeply connected to India’s history and cultural diversity. We aspire to create a future where children grow up aware of their rights, respectful of differences, and confident in standing up for justice, equality, and constitutional values.

Hi, I’m Anagha Unni, the founder of Project Haq! My interest in law and history began early, and over time, I started noticing something troubling: many people around me were unaware of their basic rights and the systems meant to protect them. As I looked deeper, I realised that this lack of awareness isn’t accidental. In many schools, especially in under-resourced settings, civics and history are either briefly covered or taught in ways that don’t truly engage students. As these students grow up, they remain unaware of Indian history and law, even as adults. This gap felt urgent to me. I kept wondering: if people don’t know their rights, how can they ever stand up for them? Combining my love for writing and law with a strong desire to create social impact, I founded India’s Hidden Histories to make Indian law, history, and constitutional values accessible, engaging, and relevant for individuals across ages.
These are all of our partners and the places where we have conducted workshops, read-aloud sessions, and interactive activities with children. By collaborating with schools, organisations, and community spaces, we aim to expand our reach and make learning about Indian law, history, and culture accessible to more young minds.
